Item 06A <br /> Special Order of Business <br /> Monday, September 26, 2005 <br /> City Administrator Review: ______ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />September 12, 2005 <br /> <br />City of Mounds View <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Request for Toastmasters International Proclamation <br /> <br />Dear Mayor Marty - <br /> <br />I am requesting that October 2005 be declared Toastmasters International month in the <br />city of Mounds View, MN. <br /> <br />Toastmasters International is celebrating its 81st anniversary. Our organization was <br />established in October of 1924, as a non-profit organization by Dr. Ralph. He believed that <br />people need an organization where they can practice communication and leadership skills <br />in a supportive environment. The vision of the organization is to empower people to <br />achieve their full potential and realize their dreams. The program consists of manuals and <br />education modules. Members help each other via constructive evaluations. Members help <br />themselves via doing assignments at a pace that facilitates their learning level and style. It <br />is an organization that fosters effective thinking, listening and speaking. <br /> <br />We would like to invite the mayor out to a Toastmasters club meeting of the AdLibbers <br />Toastmasters club in Mounds View to present the Proclamation to the club if granted or we <br />a member of the Mounds View club could attend your council meeting to receive the <br />proclamation. Let us know if either of these options work for you and what your standard <br />process is. <br /> <br />A Proclamation by the City of Mounds View will be a tool to inspire both members and non- <br />members to celebrate our anniversary. <br /> <br />I am sending suggested wording for the proclamation. <br /> <br />Please confirm receipt of this message.
