<br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br /> <br /> <br />Whereas, the vision of the Toastmasters International organization is to empower <br />people to achieve their full potential and realize their dreams; and <br /> <br />Whereas, since the Toastmasters organization began in 1924, more than three <br />million men and women have benefited from its communication and leadership programs. <br />Members of Toastmasters benefit from improved communications skills, better meeting <br />facilitation skills, and leadership skills. Increased self-confidence is an added dividend; <br />and <br /> <br />Whereas, meetings include both prepared and extemporaneous speaking. <br />Speeches are evaluated emphasizing positive immediate feedback and ideas for <br />improvement, all within a supportive environment. Members receive educational manuals <br />from Toastmasters International which offers guidelines for speeches; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the mission of Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and <br />positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop <br />communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal <br />growth; and <br /> <br />Whereas, there is 1 Toastmaster club in the City of Mounds View, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Now, Therefore, I, Mayor Rob Marty, Mayor of the City of Mounds View, Minnesota, <br />do hereby proclaim October 2005 as <br /> <br />Toastmasters Month In the City of Mounds View <br /> <br />And call upon all citizens of this city to join us in commending this observance and <br />celebrating the 81st anniversary of the Toastmasters International organization. <br /> <br />Presented this 26th day of September, 2005. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Rob Marty, Mayor <br /> <br />(seal)
