Item No: 07E <br />Meeting Date: October 24, 2005 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />City Administrator Review: ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant to the City Administrator <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6660 Approving a Charitable Gambling Permit to <br />the Mounds View Lion’s Club to Conduct Charitable <br />Gambling at the Mermaid <br /> <br /> <br />The Mounds View Lion’s Club, a non-profit charitable organization, would like to <br />renew their Charitable Gambling Permit to hold charitable gambling at The <br />Mermaid, located at 2200 Highway 10 in Mounds View. <br /> <br />The Mound View Lions Club currently hold a charitable gambling premise permit <br />for The Mermaid and their permit will expire on January 31, 2006. The Mounds <br />View Lions Club has been in existence for more than three years, and has at <br />least thirty (30) active members, as required in Ordinance 691 (attached for your <br />reference). <br /> <br />The Gambling Control Board requires that local unit of government (city or <br />county), pass a resolution specifically approving or denying the Premises Permit <br />Application. This resolution (approving or denying the application) must be voted <br />on and the resolution forwarded to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Attached is the Lawful Gambling Application from The Lion’s Club of Mounds <br />View and Resolution 6660.
