Item No: 08F <br />Meeting Date: January 26, 2004 <br /> Type of Business: CA <br />City Administrator Review: ______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Administrative Assistant <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6177 Approving a Permit Application for Merrick, <br />Inc., a Charitable Organization to conduct Charitable <br />Gambling at Robert’s Sports Bar and Entertainment located <br />in the City of Mounds View <br /> <br />Merrick, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization would like to hold charitable <br />gambling on a permanent basis at Robert’s Sports Bar and Entertainment located <br />at 2400 County Road H2, in the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />Merrick, Inc., is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, licensed by <br />DHS as a Day Training & Habilitation (DT&H) and Supported Employment <br />Services (SES) provider. The focus of their program is to provide employment <br />services to adults with a developmental disability. <br /> <br />Merrick, Inc.’s offices are currently located in Vadnais Heights, they have been in <br />existence since 1964, and has 30 active members (list attached), which meets the <br />requirements of the Mounds View City Code. <br /> <br />The Gambling Control Board requires that local unit of government (city or county), <br />pass a resolution specifically approving or denying the Premises Permit <br />Application. This resolution (approving or denying the application) must be voted <br />on and the resolution forwarded to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board. <br /> <br />Attached are the Lawful Gambling Application and a list of current members. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of Premise Permits to permit Charitable Gambling for <br />Merrick, Inc., at the location stated above. <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />_______________________ <br />Desaree M.
