RICECREEK <br />Project Update: September/October 2015 <br />Environmental remediation nears completion <br />Crews from Carl Bolander & Sons have completed demolition onsite and are awaiting final soil testing on <br />their environmental remediation work. All 427 acres will be cleaned to residential standards. Once the <br />cleanup work has been completed, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Environmental <br />Protection Agency will verify the work and delist Rice Creek Commons as a superfund site. <br />Transportation and infrastructure projects <br />Construction at Highway 96 and 1-35W <br />is hitting the home stretch. The <br />interchange is currently closed to <br />install traffic signals, sidewalks, trails, <br />and medians, and stripe the <br />roadway. The interchange will be fully <br />reopened to traffic in the permanent <br />location in the first half of November. <br />Additionally, the Rice Creek Commons <br />infrastructure team continues to <br />collaborate with the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District, the U.S. Army <br />Corps of Engineers, and the Minnesota <br />Department of Natural Resources on a <br />Rice Creek remeander project at <br />County Road H. Construction bids were <br />opened in the middle of October, and <br />construction will begin in November. <br />The creek remeander will be excavated <br />and culverts will be installed this fall. By <br />July 2016, Rice Creek will flow through <br />the new alignment, and the old creek <br />channel will be filled in. <br />Ramsey County continues to make progress on the design of the new 1-35W interchange at County Road <br />H. Construction plans were submitted for MnDOT review in mid-October.
