Crossroad Pointe Redevelopment Project

Since the last EDC meeting city staff has been waiting for a response from the attorneys
regarding the predevelopment agreement. There are three or so clauses in the
proposed agreement that The Beard Groupon would like removed . The attorneys are in
the process of discussing the agreement. Staff will notify the EDC once an agreement
has been reached.

B. Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) Visits

Since the December EDC meeting, BR&E visits have been completed with Technical
Life Care Medical Company.

Technical Life Care: Technical Life Care is a biomedical company that started
December 1998. The owner worked for a company that did something similar then
decided to go off on his own and started Technical Life Care Medical Company. They
have 18 fulltime and four part-time employees. They hired four fulltime and one part-
time employee in 2015 and expect to hire two more fulltime employees in 2016. They
are the parent company and trying to start a branch in Wisconsin and Michigan. Their
suppliers are from all over the country. Ninety percent of their market is currently in
Minnesota. Health Clinics are their primary client with hospitals serving as a secondary
client. Many of the hospital clients are out-state. They do some federal work as well.
EKG machines and external body device/machinery is there specialty. While they have
four people in the Brainerd area to Duluth, most of their employees are from a 25 mile
radius of Mounds View. Their industry is growing and they plan to stay in Mounds View
long-term with plenty of room for expansion unless they can find another building with
less office space and more storage. They are also next to several other bio medical
companies in Mounds View. They hire biomedical tech employees from some of the
technical colleges hiring people already trained and certified so that little to no training is
needed. They have had good success in attracting workers from the INDEED job site
and they give the city 10 of 10 points for serviceability.
