Crossroad Pointe Redevelopment Project <br /> <br />Since the last EDC meeting city staff has been waiting for a response from the attorneys <br />regarding the predevelopment agreement. There are three or so clauses in the <br />proposed agreement that The Beard Groupon would like removed . The attorneys are in <br />the process of discussing the agreement. Staff will notify the EDC once an agreement <br />has been reached. <br /> <br />B. Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) Visits <br /> <br />Since the December EDC meeting, BR&E visits have been completed with Technical <br />Life Care Medical Company. <br /> <br />Technical Life Care: Technical Life Care is a biomedical company that started <br />December 1998. The owner worked for a company that did something similar then <br />decided to go off on his own and started Technical Life Care Medical Company. They <br />have 18 fulltime and four part-time employees. They hired four fulltime and one part- <br />time employee in 2015 and expect to hire two more fulltime employees in 2016. They <br />are the parent company and trying to start a branch in Wisconsin and Michigan. Their <br />suppliers are from all over the country. Ninety percent of their market is currently in <br />Minnesota. Health Clinics are their primary client with hospitals serving as a secondary <br />client. Many of the hospital clients are out-state. They do some federal work as well. <br />EKG machines and external body device/machinery is there specialty. While they have <br />four people in the Brainerd area to Duluth, most of their employees are from a 25 mile <br />radius of Mounds View. Their industry is growing and they plan to stay in Mounds View <br />long-term with plenty of room for expansion unless they can find another building with <br />less office space and more storage. They are also next to several other bio medical <br />companies in Mounds View. They hire biomedical tech employees from some of the <br />technical colleges hiring people already trained and certified so that little to no training is <br />needed. They have had good success in attracting workers from the INDEED job site <br />and they give the city 10 of 10 points for serviceability. <br />
