9 STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES OF THE COMMUNITY Strengths & Weaknesses of the Community City has been great to work with. City is good to work with. City easy to work with and responsive. No weaknesses identified. City staff is excellent to work with. City is always willing to help. City services great. Running out of room to expand locally. City services are great and functional. City does it's job. City is 95% developed. Need more space for future expansions. Mounds View is a great community to do business in. They like being in Mounds View and have no concerns with the city. Like central location and access to I-35W. Police don't seem interested in investigating petty thefts. Cheap water, County taxes are high. Great location, centrally located with access to major freeway systems. City staff is great to work with. Pro-business. City Services are very good, roads get plowed, infrastructure continually improved. Good community support. Good city infrastructure. have parking issue on Sundays. Impressed with the city having a Business Development Coordinator to meet with businesses. Don't have any concerns with city. Like location of Mounds View with access to major interstate system and closeness to Canada. City seems supportive. Good access to Hwy 10 & I-35W. Easy to find. Like interaction of city staff and support of businesses. County Road 10 needs to be officially named County Road 10, too much confusion over the name of the road. Some using Hwy 10, Hwy 10 NE, or County 10. Google maps isn't able to put patients in the right spot. No issues with the city. City is actively involved with businesses. Vandalism, competition from other liquor stores. Strong business support, Community involvement, Infrastructure access to I-35W, large client base, no weaknesses identified. Good support from city. City needs more trails to connect to regional trail system so can hold bike races and events. Access to I-35W, large industrial/office facilities, good infrastructure in place. Employees live elsewhere in the North Metro and have no ties to community. City Council and staff are engaged with businesses. She knows the names of City Council Members and staff. This is the first community that she has been in that this has happened. They don't like city's sign ordinance but gives the city high marks in all other areas. Community is supportive of businesses. There are ways to get involved, like Festival in the Park. Good police response. Active city staff engages with business community. cars drive through their parking lot on a regular basis and don't stop at the store. They use it as a road. City has good business staff who stay in contact and communicate with local businesses. Great access to major interstate and Hwy systems. Good access to labor markets but still need help recruiting technical skilled employees. City is business friendly but has some crime issues with thefts in parking lot. Like location to I-35W. Like city staff reaching out to them. Minor issues with leasing agent to remove trees for more visibility. City staff seems supportive of their business and is pro-business. Good business support over the years. Good planning staff. City keeps infrastructure in good shape. Some thefts over the years. Good police response. Concerned about County Road H intersection project. Wants property taxes to go down. They don't have any issues with the city. City plows streets and improves infrastructure. City staff is great to work with. Community engages with businesses. Need more industrial space. Streets get plowed, city services are sufficient. City staff great to work with. See Business Development Coordinator on a regular basis. Nice to see city engaged with businesses. Need more hotels in the area to service large groups coming in from other countries. Members of the Mounds View Economic Development Commission and City Council Members are engaged. Centrally located with access to I-35W. Strong business support. Some theft of metals. Good access to I-35W, city is engaged with businesses. Staff is good to work with, good business support. Don't have any weaknesses for the city. Good to see a Business Development Coordinator that cares enough to visit us. City is good to work with. All roads get plowed and infrastructure is improved or replaced as needed. Asking why County raised solid waste fees? Has concerns with County if they close Clifton Drive. Otherwise, overall everything seems to be going well. Most of city staff cares about local businesses. Police department is difficult to work with. Roads always plowed, like the road improvements, like the proposed plans to widen street improvement next to their business. Community is a good place to live. City Council and staff are great to work with. Need more parking at current facility. Mennonites don't like to advertise, so this hurts business. They get a lot of business at shows. City supports businesses. County Road H improvements will hinder business due to the possible closure of two entrances. However, traffic will increase at this site. Mounds View is great to work with, staff is very responsive. All concerns were addressed by city staff promptly. Like Mounds View, location to I-35W and friendly city staff. Like the fact that there is a Business Development Coordinator with direct contact to businesses. No issues with the city. This was first contact with city. No issues. City services seem in good condition. Like the idea of a Business Development Coordinator to be the liaison between the city and local businesses. Need to do something about home businesses. We can't compete because we have to pay sales taxes and they don't because they sell on the internet. Great access to I-35W and 694. City is great to work with. Good Police response when needed. Roads get plowed and regularly maintained. Staff is responsive to our needs. Great support from city staff. City services are good. No complaints. Great access to I-35W & Hwy 10. Active Community Development staff, good infrastructure. Need to salt intersection of Mustang Drive & Old Hwy 8, trucks sliding. Otherwise city does a good job providing services. Good location to I-35 and Hwy 10 City services are up to par and doing a good job. Ramsey County taxes are too high. Great location, centrally located with access to I-35W & Hwy 10. City is responsive with needs. Give city 9 out of 10 for city services.
