Mounds View EDA May 27, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br /> 46 <br />The Mounds View EDC has reviewed the information provided and recommends approval. 47 <br /> 48 <br />Commissioner Mueller asked where the funds for a study would come from. 49 <br /> 50 <br />Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz indicated that project would more than likely be 51 <br />paid out of the EDA’s marketing budget. 52 <br /> 53 <br />Commissioner Flaherty said he likes the idea of branding and a logo for the City for consistency. 54 <br />He then said that he is concerned about how to finance it. 55 <br /> 56 <br />Executive Director Ericson said that the funds in the marketing budget of the EDA are to be used 57 <br />for a marketing purpose, and that is what this proposal is for. He then said that authorizing Staff 58 <br />to go out for an RFP does not obligate the City to move forward. He further said that this is a 59 <br />one time expense that would pay dividends into the future. 60 <br /> 61 <br />President Marty indicated that he would be willing to move this forward because Staff, the EDA, 62 <br />and the EDC can work with the consultants to pick and choose the information. He then said that 63 <br />he would like Staff to approach the City of Arden Hills on this, because they have a very large 64 <br />chunk of land that they are looking to redevelop with a number of different uses and ideas. 65 <br /> 66 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Mueller.
