At the June 1, 2009 City Council Work Session, the
City Council decided to use the below promotional tools and timeline for soliciting tagline
ideas from the community:

Promotional Tool Promotion Start Date(s) Promotion End Date
Next City Utility Bill August 1 Early Oct.
Festival in the Park August 22 August 22
Mounds View Matters August 27-28 Early Oct.
Cable Channel 16 Now Early Oct.
City Website Now Early Oct.
City Hall Lobby Now Early Oct.
Sun Focus & Bulletin Now Early Oct.
E-mail Businesses Now Early Oct.

Discussion
On May 26 and June 1, 2009, the City Council discussed whether to hold a contest as an
incentive to the community for participating in the tagline project. Based on the City Council’s
direction to City staff, we have not prepared any information for a contest.

Recommendations
Staff recommends that the Council:

1. Approve the above listed promotional tools and timeline for soliciting tagline ideas.

2. Decide upon an award and proper recognition after the Council chooses a tagline.

Respectfully submitted,
____________________________
Heidi Steinmetz, Economic Development Specialist
