Mounds View City Council November 8, 2004 <br />Regular Meeting Page 10 <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND. Gunn/Marty. Nominating Dave Jahnke for the Citizenship Award. 1 <br />Mayor Linke stated the award would be made at the December 13 th meeting. 2 <br /> 3 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 4 <br /> 5 <br /> C. City Attorney 6 <br /> 7 <br />City Clerk/Administrator Ulrich handed out a Memo regarding the City’s contribution to the 8 <br />health savings accounts, to be discussed at the next regular meeting. 9 <br /> 10 <br />City Clerk/Administrator Ulrich recommended February 1st for the special election to fill the 11 <br />vacant Council seat, and that it met all the requirements of the Charter to have it on that date. He 12 <br />stated it would cost about $8,000. He stated it would be published in the official newspaper on 13 <br />the 17th, filing dates for candidates would be November 18th through December 3rd, and then the 14 <br />special election would be held on the 1st Tuesday in February. He stated if the Council wished to 15 <br />ask questions on the ballot, they would want to delay the election a couple of weeks in order to 16 <br />formulate the questions have those reviewed by the City Attorney. He stated that paper ballots 17 <br />would be used, and the polling place would be at the Community Center. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Stigney asked for clarification of the $8,000 figure. 20 <br /> 21 <br />City Clerk/Administrator Ulrich stated the main costs are legal notices, payment of the election 22 <br />judges, public notices, and the printing of the ballots. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mayor Linke asked if they could have a more precise breakdown available at the next meeting. 25 <br /> 26 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Marty/Gunn. To publish notice of the election November 17th, have filing 27 <br />dates for candidates November 18th through December 3rd, and have the special election on 28 <br />February 1st. 29 <br /> 30 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 31 <br /> 32 <br />13.
