PUBLIC INPUT 3 4 William Werner of 2765 Sherwood Road asked which laws newly sworn in officials swore to 5 uphold. 6 7 Mayor Linke indicated the laws of the United States Constitution and the laws of the State of 8 Minnesota. 9 10 Mr. Werner asked if officials swore to uphold the Mounds View City Charter. 11 12 Mayor Linke indicated that upholding the Charter was part of newly elected officials 13 responsibilities. 14 15 Mr. Werner commented that it would be nice if incoming officials would take an oath to uphold 16 the City Charter. 17 18 Mayor Linke indicated he thought the same thing but the oath is boiler-plate language that 19 everyone takes. 20 21 Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the wording was from the Charter. 22 23 Mr. Werner indicated there have been problems in the City with members not upholding the Oath 24 of the City Charter. 25 26 Council Member Stigney indicated that this came up some time ago and at that time it was 27 discussed with the City Attorney and it is his opinion that the wording in the encompasses the 28 fact that the elected officials must follow the Charter. He then indicated he had asked whether 29 the City could put wording in about the Charter but the City Attorney had said it would be 30 redundant. 31 32 7. Resolution 5918, Selection of Official City Newspaper, Acting Mayor, 39 Treasurer and Official Depository for 2003 40 41 Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the City needed to choose its official newspaper, 42 acting Mayor and official depository for 2003. 43 44 Mayor Linke recommended that Council Member Marty serve as acting Mayor. 45
