Sick leave transfer policy <br />Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 5943 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DONATION OF SICK LEAVE TO COWORKERS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a police officer employed by the City was injured while off-duty, and the injury <br />required surgery to the officer’s arm resulting in an extended recovery time, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the officer in question has depleted all available sick leave, vacation and comp time, <br />and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, article 21 of the Law Enforcement Labor Services labor contract for the City states: <br />“An employee may borrow up to thirty days of sick leave with the approval of and under circumstances <br />set out by the Employer,” and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City does not have a policy in place for the administration of this procedure, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View City Council has directed staff to develop a policy amending the <br />personnel manual to allow for donation of sick leave to fellow employees when all other available leave <br />time has been depleted, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of this policy would be added as paragraph “D” to section 3.35 of <br />the personnel manual, which addresses Sick Leave. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council does hereby <br />authorize adoption of the attached policy as approved or amended by the Council. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Adopted this 10th day of February, 2003. <br /> <br /> ______________________________ <br />Jerry Linke, Mayor <br /> <br />Attest <br /> <br /> ______________________________ <br />Jim Ericson, Acting City Clerk/Administrator <br />(Seal) <br /> <br />
