To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 5948, a 1 <br />Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Voice Recognition Software Program and Necessary Computer 2 <br />Upgrades Utilizing LLEBG Grant Funds. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that early versions of voice recognition software were not very 5 <br />functional and asked whether this software would be. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that Staff has investigated this software and there are other agencies using it. 8 <br />He then said that Staff recommends the purchase of the software and computers. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that previous police administration ha s said there was a need for 11 <br />portable video surveillance and asked if that is no longer a priority. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that it was his understanding that there are limitations for utilizing the grant funds 14 <br />and this technology fits into those guidelines. He further commented that the funds needed to be spent 15 <br />before February 28, 2003. 16 <br /> 17 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Marty indicated he had thought Council approved matching funds for a grant for new 20 <br />computers in the squads but they were never obtained. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Council Member Quick indicated Council approved matching funds but he is not sure whether the City 23 <br />got the grant. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that the grant was proposed but never materialized. 26 <br /> 27 <br />9. REPORTS 28 <br /> 29 <br /> A. No Parking Request, East Side of Greenfield Avenue, South of County Road I 30 <br /> 31 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the Planning Commission has been dealing with a parking 32 <br />issue on Greenfield Avenue where a business is overflowing its parking lot onto the street and, after 33 <br />reviewing the situation, the Commission has adopted a Resolution recommending no parking. He then 34 <br />asked whether Council wished to discuss the matter at a work session or during the public hearing at a 35 <br />Council meeting. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Mayor Linke indicated he would like to have it at a work session so he could be better informed on the 38 <br />issue. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Stigney asked if there was a public hearing at the Planning Commission level. 41 <br /> 42
