The existing 1989 Caterpillar 936E loader is currently in a usable condition and <br />retains a salvage value due to the City’s extensive maintenance program. The <br />trade-in amount offered by St. Joseph Equipment is $33,000.00. <br /> <br />A summary of the proposed loader replacement is as follows: <br /> <br />• 2003 Case 621D Front End Loader $114,529.00 <br />• Tax (6.5%) $ 5,299.39 <br />Subtotal $119,828.39 <br /> <br /> <br />• Trade-In of 1989 Caterpillar 936E ($33,000.00) <br />TOTAL $86,828.39 <br />(Plus transfer fees as applicable) <br /> <br />The 2003 General Fund, Snow and Ice Department, Vehicle Account (Account <br />100-4472-7040) has $100,000.00 budgeted for this front end loader purchase <br />including the trade-in. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of a 2003 Case <br />621D front end loader under state contract and award a contract to St. Joseph <br />Equipment in the amount of $119,828.39 for the purchase of this loader, <br />including tax. (Plus transfer fees as applicable.) <br /> <br />Staff also recommends that the City Council approve the trade-in of the 1989 <br />Caterpillar 936E front end loader to St. Joseph Equipment at a credited value of <br />$33,000.00.
