RESOLUTION NO. 5952 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT FRONT END LOADER WHEREAS, the City Council previously approved the purchase of a 1989 Caterpillar 936E Series front end loader; and WHEREAS, said loader has been in use for fifteen years and has reached its economically useful life; and WHEREAS, Staff has researched and thoroughly tested two brands of front end loaders and determined the Case 621D front end loader performed as well as the other brand and is the best financial choice for the City; and WHEREAS, a 2003 Case 621D front end loader can be purchased from St. Joseph Equipment under state contract for $114,529.00. Tax of $5,299.39 and applicable transfer fees will be additional; and WHEREAS, the existing 1989 Caterpillar 936E loader retains a salvage value and a trade-in amount offered by St. Joseph Equipment is $33,000.00; and WHEREAS, the 2003 General Fund, Snow and Ice Department, Vehicle account, (Account 100-4472-7040) has $100,000.00 budgeted for this loader purchase including trade-in; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1. The purchase of a 2003 Case 621D front end loader under state contract is approved. 2. A contract to St. Joseph Equipment in the amount of $119,828.39 for the purchase of said loader, amount includes tax of $5,299.39. (Additional transfer fees as applicable), is awarded. 3. The trade-in of the1989 Caterpillar 936E front end loader to St. Joseph Equipment at a credited value of $33,000.00 is approved. 4. The City’s net cost of $86,828.39 plus applicable transfer fees will replace the 1989 Caterpillar 936E front end loader.
