2401 County Highway 10 <br />Mounds View, MN 55112 <br />Ramsey County <br />Quarterly Report Oct. 2002- Jan. 2003 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />Investigations <br />• Investigative services are provided for cases needing follow up, criminal complaints, <br />juvenile petitions and those cases where further investigation is needed beyond the <br />scope of the duties of a patrol officer. During the period of this quarter 254 cases were <br />assigned to the two investigators for further investigation. In addition to working on <br />assigned cases the investigators are given additional duties as needed. <br /> <br />School Resource Officer <br />• The school resource officer is assigned to Edgewood Middle School. The School <br />Resource officer is responsible for law enforcement and public safety issues for the <br />students in the school and serves as a liaison to the school. The school resource <br />officer’s salary, benefits and equipment are funded by the school district. <br /> <br />D.A.R.E/ Crime Prevention <br />• The D.A.R.E/ Crime Prevention Officer teaches Drug Abuse Resistance Education <br />lessons to a core group of 5th graders at Pinewood Elementary School, and <br />introductory classes to grades K –4. The officer is responsible for administering the <br />Crime Free Multi Housing program in the city, coordinating National Night Out, helps <br />coordinate the summer safety camp, and performs other crime prevention duties as <br />needed. Serves as the Liaison to the Festival in the Park committee. <br /> <br />Administrative Support <br />• The two administrative support positions are responsible for all required state and <br />federal reporting mandates. One position is designated the Criminal Justice Data <br />Network Terminal Agency Coordinator for the Police Department. The staff is <br />responsible for all record and data maintenance, and dissemination of police records. <br />The staff enters and records all police incidents, all traffic accidents, all citations, and <br />all data maintained by the department. In addition the staff are responsible for the <br />clerical duties in the department. <br /> <br />Community Service Officer / Evidence Technician <br />• The CSO/ Evidence Technician is responsible for record keeping and maintaining the <br />evidence room, fingerprinting, animal control, live trapping of nuisance animals, and <br />assisting patrol officers with service activities. <br /> <br />Administration/ Supervision <br />• Two Sergeants provide line staff supervision. A Police Chief and a Deputy Police <br />Chief administer the department. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
