Resolution 5970 Approving Leases for Three Copy Machines from Savin 3
4
Finance Director Hansen explained that with the ever changing copier technology the City can 5
get new copy machines at a lower cost than the ones that are currently being leased. He then 6
indicated Staff has looked into the copier needs of the City and recommends purchasing the 7
machine in the garage for $745.00 as it is not used very heavily and would only cost the City 8
minimal maintenance. He further recommended that the City lease three machines to replace the 9
three in City Hall noting that the new copiers can be hooked up to the computer system to be 10
used as printers to take some of the load of the LaserJet printers. 11
12
Finance Director Hansen indicated that changing the City’s copiers based on Staff’s 13
recommendation would save the City approximately $9,000 per year as well as save wear and 14
tear on the City’s printers. 15
16
Mayor Linke asked whether the finance copier could be eliminated and have that department 17
utilize the administration copier. 18
19
Finance Director Hansen explained that there are many times when the administrative 20
departments machine is busy and he feels it would be a waste of staff time to have them standing 21
in line at the copier. He also clarified that the increased projection in use for the copiers assumes 22
moving some printing away from the LaserJet printers to save wear and tear. 23
24
MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Marty.
