Mounds View City Council February 24, 2003
Regular Meeting Page 8

Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated he was told by New Brighton that they could not 1
give the matter top priority but could devote the time necessary to get the job done. He then said 2
that he had spoken to the City Manager of New Brighton and there would be a time crunch when 3
the applications are received to sort through them and the time needed is dependent upon the 4
number of applications received. 5
6
Council Member Marty indicated he would like to post the job with the criteria he submitted to 7
the paper. 8
9
Mayor Linke asked what the requirements of Council are for an Administrator. 10
11
Council Member Marty recommended using the job description that was used a few years ago. 12
13
Council Member Stigney indicated the posting should be available from the last time. 14
15
Mayor Linke acknowledged the application of Mr. Ericson for the position and thanked him for 16
his interest. 17
18
Mayor Linke indicated he would like to authorize First Site Staffing to work with Staff in 19
preparing information for Council review and approval to move this process along. 20
21
Council Member Stigney asked Staff to verify the position of New Brighton as to what they are 22
willing to provide for the City and the timeline in which they can provide the services. He also 23
asked who would do the pointing for the position and whether First Site Staffing was qualified to 24
point for public positions. 25
26
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated First Site Staffing has had experience with 27
government hiring but said he would verify that information as well as provide the information 28
from two years ago to them. 29
30
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that New Brighton was not able to give a very clear 31
indication of the amount of time they could devote to the project due to the variables involved 32
such as the number of applications received and what the City wants them to do. He then said 33
that there is approximately a $5.00 difference in the hourly rate of New Brighton and First Site 34
Staffing. 35
36
Council Member Stigney indicated that outside vendors have a tendency to “stick it to cities” 37
with other costs and he would not think that New Brighton would do that. 38
39
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated it was his understanding that First Site Staffing has 40
placed for governmental or public agencies. He then offered to obtain that information and noted 41
the representative had offered to come to a Council meeting. 42
43
