Mounds View City Council February 24, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br />Chief Sommer indicated the City does not have a reserve program. 1 <br /> 2 <br />Mayor Linke asked whether administrative offenses are listed under the 458 traffic citations. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that they are. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Mayor Linke asked the Chief to break out the administrative offenses for Council review. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Council Member Marty asked how many of the 458 were for moving violations. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Chief Sommer indicated there were 156 moving violations, 118 were for expired tabs and 152 for 11 <br />parking tickets. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Marty asked Chief Sommer to explore whether there would be any grants 14 <br />available to assist with the costs to upgrade radios. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Chief Sommer indicated there may be grant money available from the federal terrorism grants or 17 <br />the County can levy for the funding. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Marty thanked Chief Sommer for commending the officers involved with the 20 <br />Mermaid incident and then congratulated the officers for saving the man’s life. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Council Member Gunn commended the School Resource Officers for a job well done at 23 <br />Edgewood and Irondale. 24 <br /> 25 <br /> B. Discuss Options for Filling the City Administrator Vacancy 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Linke commented that hiring another City to fill the Administrator vacancy has a number 28 <br />of negatives as does using Staff to hire the boss. He then said that hiring a staffing firm on a per 29 <br />hour basis may be the answer. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Council Member Marty indicated he would like to solicit applications and send them on to First 32 <br />Site Staffing or some staffing company to review. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Mayor Linke asked how much time First Site Staffing would spend on going over the 35 <br />applications and providing five or so for Council review. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Council Member Stigney asked how much time New Brighton could devote to the project. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated New Brighton has said it would take from 60 to 80 40 <br />hours and the number of hours they could devote to it would depend on how much work Council 41 <br />wanted and what was going on in their City. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Council Member Stigney asked for a timeframe from New Brighton. 44 <br /> 45
