Mounds View City Council April 14, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 10 <br /> <br />Council Member Marty asked for clarification on the Springsted item for continuing disclosure 1 <br />for $635.00. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Finance Director Hansen indicated that the City Council approved retaining Springsted to ensure 4 <br />that the financial information for the City is correct and available as part of the disclosure 5 <br />requirement for any City issuing bonds. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Council Member Marty asked whether the paid off items should be removed from the Chart. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Finance Director Hansen indicated he would review the Chart to determine what could be 10 <br />removed. 11 <br /> 12 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Gunn. To Approve Just and Correct Claims as Presented. 13 <br /> 14 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 15 <br /> 16 <br /> B. Authorization for Expenditures 17 <br /> 18 <br /> (1) Consideration of NLC Membership Expenditure 19 <br /> 20 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that Staff brings consideration of the National 21 <br />League of Cities Membership to Council for consideration and determination as to whether it is a 22 <br />necessary expenditure in light of budget constraints. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mayor Linke asked what the benefits of the membership are. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the City receives the benefit of information from 27 <br />the NLC as well as a weekly magazine and there is a national convention the City can send a 28 <br />representative to that has many training opportunities. He then said that this national 29 <br />membership may not be necessary provided the City maintains its membership with the 30 <br />Minnesota League of Cities. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Gunn asked if the membership is being used. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that use would be difficult to determine. He then 35 <br />indicated that the City has sent representatives to the conferences and they return with valuable 36 <br />information but, in light of budget constraints, it is doubtful that anyone would be sent to the 37 <br />national conference. 38 <br /> 39 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Stigney. To Inform the National League of Cities of Mounds 40 <br />View’s Intention to Terminate Membership. 41 <br /> 42 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 43 <br /> 44
