Ulrich Letter of Hire <br />July 14, 2003 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />• Termination and Severance: You will serve at the will of the Council and may be <br />terminated with or without cause at any time. Should the Council terminate your <br />employment without cause during the first two years of employment, you will receive <br />six (6) months notice or severance. Should the Council terminate your employment <br />without cause during the third year of employment, you will receive five (5) months <br />notice or severance. Should the Council terminate your employment without cause <br />during the fourth year of employment, you will receive four (4) months notice or <br />severance. The Council shall retain discretion as to whether to provide advance <br />notice or to provide severance pay. The obligation to pay severance shall terminate <br />when you have successfully obtained a position of comparable responsibility and <br />compensation. <br /> <br />• Voluntary Separation. Should you decide to terminate your employment with the <br />City, you will be required to provide a minimum of thirty (30) days notice of your <br />intent to terminate. Separation compensation shall be authorized by the City <br />Council consistent with the Personnel Policies of the City. <br /> <br /> <br />The City’s personnel policies shall prevail over any compensation or personnel provisions <br />not specifically addressed in this letter of hire. Please sign and return this letter to the <br />personnel office.
