<br /> <br />Item No:08D <br />Meeting Date: August 14, 2003 <br />Type of Business: CA <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6075 Designating the Mounds View <br />Festival in the Park as the Local Festival to receive <br />CVB Grant Monies for 2003 for Marketing and <br />Promotion of the Event <br /> <br /> <br />Grant funds are available from the Minneapolis Metro North Convention & Visitors Bureau <br />(CVB) annually for one local festival. The City of Mounds View designates the local festival <br />that will receive these funds. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Each year the Minneapolis Metro North CVB provides $2,000 to assist with marketing and <br />promotion of a local festival. The monies are to be used to assist the festival with marketing <br />and promotional costs. The City of Mounds View needs to designate which event will receive <br />these grant funds. Currently, the City contributes $4,000 of cash and services (e.g. public <br />works labor) to the operation of the festival. The $2,000 CVB contribution will be in addition <br />to the $4,000. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the Council designate the Mounds View Festival in the Park and the <br />local festival for purposes of this CVB program.
