Item No. 8D Type of Business: CA WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works Item Title/Subject: 2003 Street Improvement Project – Phase I Resolution No. 6109 Authorizing the Preparation of Plans and Specifications for the 2003 Street Improvement Project – Phase I Meeting Date: October 13, 2003 Background: On October 28, 2002, City Council adopted Resolution No. 5870 authorizing the preparation of a preliminary feasibility report and consultant selection for the 2003 Street Improvement Project. The streets to be considered for this project are those contained in the area bounded by County Road 10 to the north and east, County Road H2 to the south, and Pleasant View Drive to the west. Discussion: The City Council indicated a desire to perform this project during the 2003 construction season. Due to the time required to draft the feasibility report and address issues, such as standard street sections and widths and assessment policies for a neighborhood street major maintenance project, this project was re- scheduled for construction in 2004. In addition to this project, City Council indicated a desire to perform a Roadway Major Maintenance Project in 2004 for the streets located south of County Road H2 and west of Silver Lake Road. Another potential street project to be constructed in 2004 is the Woods of Mounds View Development. Given that these three projects may be ready for bidding on in the spring of 2004, they therefore may be combined into one project in an effort to receive more favorable bids. Staff thought it would be appropriate to assign them as phases of the 2003 Street Improvement Project. The phases follow: Phase I - Area south of Co. Rd. 10 / north of Co. Rd. H2 Phase II - Area south of Co. Rd. H2 / west of Silver Lake Road Phase III – Woods of Mounds View Development
