Mounds View City Council November 10, 2003
Regular Meeting Page 7

1
Economic Development Coordinator Backman indicated that both parties have reviewed the RFP 2
with the changes and signed the agreement. He then reviewed the changes to the RFP agreement. 3
4
City Administrator Ulrich pointed out that the item at the bottom of the Staff report should be 5
added as it was not included with the original agreement that was sent out. 6
7
Council Member Marty asked if both parties are aware of the paragraph. 8
9
City Administrator Ulrich read the paragraph clarifying the language on future scheduled dates. 10
11
Mr. Hall indicated he understands and agrees. 12
13
Mr. Waste said he understands but thought one of the concerns was that the manager kept 14
booking and it was important to keep booking. He then said he can agree but most important 15
was to continue booking and not turn business away. He further commented that he has no 16
problem continuing booking and agreeing. 17
18
Council Member Stigney asked if the language should be modified to book through the City. 19
20
Economic Development Coordinator Backman indicated this matter has been discussed at length 21
with the City Attorney and, for simplicity sake, the City Attorney prefers the language proposed. 22
23
Council Member Stigney asked if all deposits will go to the manager. 24
25
Economic Development Coordinator Backman indicated the discussion with the City Attorney 26
regarding deposits was lengthy but the consensus was that the City is in a landlord relationship 27
and how the deposits is the tenants responsibility. 28
29
Council Member Stigney commented that deposits brought in over the 60-day period could 30
disappear and leave the City with the responsibility of continuing the booking without the 31
deposit. 32
33
Economic Development Coordinator Backman indicated that the caterers want good 34
relationships with their clients and they will find ways of satisfying the needs. He then said that 35
he feels comfortable the matter would be addressed by the caterers. 36
37
Council Member Stigney asked how much rental the City would be getting from Community Ed. 38
39
Economic Development Coordinator Backman indicated that Community Ed was paying $11.00 40
per square foot but the current market dictates from $6.00 to $8.00 per square foot. He then said 41
that additional breakout rooms will mean the City will see a fair number of corporate and non-42
profits using the center. 43
44
