Mounds View City Council November 10, 2003
Regular Meeting Page 9

Mayor Linke indicated that they were referring to the sales staff. 1
2
Mr. Waste indicated that he has been doing a great job at the banquet center with the liquor side 3
of things and the people that would be working with him have 15 to 20 years of catering 4
experience. 5
6
Mayor Linke agreed but said The Mermaid has six people and Roberts would have two. 7
8
Mr. Waste indicated he had called in earlier today to request information on insurance and did 9
not receive an answer to his question. 10
11
City Administrator Ulrich indicated the question was whether The Mermaid had adequate 12
insurance. He then said that the files were checked and there is adequate insurance in place. 13
14
Mr. Waste asked whether that insurance was liquor liability insurance. 15
16
City Administrator Ulrich indicated it was. 17
18
Mayor Linke indicated the RFP from Roberts was at his house when he got home on Friday 19
night. 20
21
Council Member Stigney indicated his final comment is that he would like to reiterate that he is 22
voting no not because of The Mermaid but he has an issue with the RFP and how it ties the hands 23
of the City and he thinks the City should go out for an RFP to see how and who could maximize 24
revenues at the banquet center. He then commented that 14 months is too long for an interim 25
contract. 26
27
Council Member Marty thanked both establishments for submitting the information and for the 28
interest in working with the City. 29
30
Ayes – 3 Nays – 1(Stigney) Motion carried. 31
32
Mayor Linke abstained from voting. 33
34
City Administrator Ulrich clarified that the vote included the amendments as discussed. 35
36
Council indicated that it did. 37
38
Council Member Stigney indicated that Mayor Linke had not received unanimous consent of 39
Council to abstain from voting. 40
41
Ayes – 4 Nays – 1(Stigney) Motion carried. 42
43
