<br />RESOLUTION 5943 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DONATION OF SICK LEAVE TO COWORKERS <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a police officer employed by the City was injured while off-duty, and <br />the injury required surgery to the officer’s arm resulting in an extended recovery time, <br />and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the officer in question has depleted all available sick leave, vacation <br />and comp time, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, article 21 of the Law Enforcement Labor Services labor contract for <br />the City states: “An employee may borrow up to thirty days of sick leave with the <br />approval of and under circumstances set out by the Employer,” and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City does not have a policy in place for the administration of this <br />procedure, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View City Council has directed staff to develop a policy <br />amending the personnel manual to allow for donation of sick leave to fellow employees <br />when all other available leave time has been depleted, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of this policy would be added as paragraph “D” to <br />section 3.35 of the personnel manual, which addresses Sick Leave. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council does <br />hereby authorize amendment of Section 3.35 of the Personnel Manual by adding “Section <br />D – Donation of Sick Leave”, as presented in the attached Exhibit A. <br /> <br /> <br />Adopted this 10th day of February, 2003. <br /> <br /> ______________________________ <br />Jerry Linke, Mayor <br /> <br />Attest <br /> <br /> ______________________________ <br />Jim Ericson, Acting City <br />Clerk/Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />(Seal) <br /> <br />
