Item No. 04
Type of Business: WS
Meeting Date: April 7,2003

City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Mary Burg, Golf Course Manager
Subject: Golf Course Discussion

Background

There are several items for council discussion, clarification and direction is requested.

1. Practice Facility Bucket prices
2. Pro Shop Improvements
3. Group Event Policy Donations to Groups
4. Exchange for Advertising or exposure

Discussion

1. Practice Facility Token Price

2002 2003 2003 Adjustment
Small $4 $4 $5
Large $7 $8 $7
Jumbo $10 $11 $10

The law of supply and demand affect the number of purchases of the tokens as the price
rises. As the price goes up the demand falls off. As the price goes down sales go up. The
value of the tokens increases by the rate of 3/$10. This will boost the multiple token
purchases.

The rate of 3/$11 has reduced the multiply token purchases. The perception of diminished
value has caused patrons to buy only one or two tokens. This is because they do not
want to open their wallet for $11.

The small bucket could be increased to $5. That amount would encourage multiple
purchasing, thus increasing total sales of tokens.

Range Price Comparison
The Bridges $4/35 ball $8/70 $11/105
Brighton Crossroads $5/35 $6/70 $7/90
U of M $4/35 $7/70 $12/150
Island Lake $4/30 $5/50 $6/70
Columbia $1.75/20 $3.50/40 $7/80
Great Northern $3/30 $5/64
Shadow Ridge Not Open Yet
