2. Essential verses Non-essential Spending

The clubhouse has maintenance needs that will be required. These may be needed, but
clarification as to what is being considered essential or non-essential is requested. One
such item is the “Food Court” area, which is located out of view. Because of where it is
located, we lose out on “impulse food purchases.” It could be moved into the pro-shop
area, which will increase sales and allow clubhouse attendant to monitor food services.

The Pro Shop carpeting is worn and quite dirty and tattered. It will require replacement.
The appearance in the pro-shop does not encourage the patrons to stay and enjoy a
beverage or a snack.

The new Mounds View business owner John Kopas, of Abbey Carpets has offered to
supply new carpeting to the city for his cost. This is a good will gesture to the City of
Mounds View. The clubhouse could get a face-lift at the time of the replacement of the
carpeting.

Cost:

• Carpet 86 yards $17.00 per yard (approximate)
• Labor $602
• Freight donated by Abbey Carpet

The generous offer by Abbey Carpet makes it very appealing to go forward with the
maintenance replacement of the carpet. The changes to the food court would be
performed by golf course maintenance staff and would require a negligible expenditure.
Please advise staff as to the Council’s wish to necessitate such purchases.

Visual Aids will be exhibited at work session.

3. Golf Course Outing Event Policy and Contract

Draft attached as Exhibit A

4. Exchange for Advertising

The promotional resources for The Bridges have been allocated for this season. There
have been opportunities that have become available to promote the golf course through
the use of passes or range tokens with trade.

For Example: The Minnesota Thunder Pro Soccer Team, and Little Lakes Little League
have requested that we sponsor their program schedules by the donation of rounds or
bucket tokens. They will use our exchange for promotions. The Bridges would be given
space for advertisement equal to or greater in value than the certificates. The golf course
would receive exposure through the printed program schedule and additionally by the use
of the passes through bringing new patrons to the course.
