<br />Public Works DRAFT <br /> <br />COUNCIL POLICY XX-XXXX <br />STOP SIGN PLACEMENT PROCEDURES <br /> <br />Policy for Placement of Stop Signs <br /> <br />Purpose: <br /> <br />To provide for the safety of the public in the City of Mounds View and provide for <br />the efficient free flow of traffic by establishing a uniform policy for stop sign <br />placement. <br /> <br />Policy: <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City of Mounds View to review the streets in all new <br />development proposals and existing intersections as requested to determine the <br />need for stop signs at these intersections. Further, it is the policy of the City of <br />Mounds View to handle citizen requests for stop signs by conducting an objective <br />study of the intersection. The placement of stop signs will not be used as a <br />method to control vehicular speed. <br /> <br />PROCEDURES <br /> <br />A committee consisting of the Police Chief, Public Works Director, City Planner, <br />or their representative, will review all proposals that contain streets and <br />roadways. <br /> <br />NEW DEVELOPMENTS/STREETS <br /> <br />A. Two Way Stop Signs <br /> <br />Generally: <br />• Local residential streets will be stopped at intersections with <br />streets having the following classifications: <br /> <br />1. Collector <br />2. Minor Arterial <br />3. Intermediate Arterial <br /> <br />• Collector streets will be stopped at intersections with streets <br />having the following characteristics: <br /> <br />1. Minor Arterial <br />2. Intermediate Arterial <br />
