Harrington further reported that this <br /> property owner asked to meet with staff to discuss the possibility of <br /> improving the street at their cost. Harrington explained that a meeting <br /> was scheduled with the property owner for the week of February 28 and <br /> asked that the Council consider. tabling this item to a later meeting so <br /> the issue of developing the street could be further explored. <br /> Mayor Linke closed the public hearing at 7 : 12 p.m. <br /> Mayor Linke continued this item to a not certain date and time. <br /> COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> A. Consideration of Contract to Furnish Fire Protection Services to th <br /> Cities of Blaine, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park <br /> • <br /> Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, explained that the contract <br /> provides fire service to the cities of Mounds View, Blaine and <br /> Spring Lake Park. Orduno stated that the contract had been approve <br /> both by the City of Blaine and the Fire Department's Board of <br /> Directors. Orduno explained some of the details of the contract <br /> such as the cities providing funding based on a formula which <br /> allocated costs per a combination of property valuations and the <br /> number of fire calls per city. Orduno further explained that the <br /> • three cities, in the past, had very little input into the budget <br /> process, revenues, expenditures or hiring procedures of the <br /> organization. The 1190 Fire Bond Referendum, which was passed of <br /> all three cities, changed the scope of the relationship between the <br /> cities and the organization. <br /> Councilmember Trude asked if the City Attorney had reviewed the <br /> contract. <br /> Orduno reported that the Attorney had reviewed the contract and had <br /> also had discussions regarding the contract with the City of Blaine <br /> O duno further reported that this contract covered three years of <br /> negotiating but is very workable for the three cities. <br /> Orduno also stated that the Fire Department had donated to the City <br /> a conference room table which would have cost the City about $800. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Trude/Quick to Approve the Contract to Furnish Fire <br /> Protection Services to the Cities of Blaine, Mounds View and Spring <br /> Lake Park <br /> VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> o <br />
