Mounds View City Council Page Seven <br /> Regular Meeting April 11, 1994 <br /> d. Councilmember Trude: <br /> - Last weekend the City Council, staff and some members of <br /> the various Advisory Commissions attended a Strategic <br /> Planning Session. The task was to evaluate and implement <br /> goals for the future. One of the goals set was to improve <br /> the appearance of Highway 10. There will be a task force <br /> set up to research this area. <br /> Trude also reported that there will be an Economic <br /> Development Commission developed. <br /> The City of Mounds View will be tightening up their <br /> nuisance code. Trude encouraged all residents to take <br /> part in the upcoming Spring Clean Up Day. <br /> Report of Mayor Linke: <br /> a. Mayor Linke reported that he spent the weekend at the Strategic <br /> Planning Session with the Department Heads and the chairs of some of <br /> the commissions and chairs of the Focus 2000 groups to discuss what <br /> 411 the needs are and what came out of the Focus 2000 for the next five <br /> years. There were some controversial areas that are now in the <br /> planning stages. A book was put together that listed the five year <br /> goals for the City. <br /> Samantha Orduno noted that the goals went from 10 to 12 . Orduno <br /> thanked. the City Council, staff and commission members for all the <br /> hard work that was put into the strategic planning over the weekend. <br /> Mayor Linke commented that this session was a very valuable planning <br /> tool and the best planning session that he had attended. Linke <br /> stated that there was room for free dialogue and that is very <br /> important when _planning goals__ Linke_also commented that_it was a <br /> long two days and that it was the first planning session for some of <br /> the staff members. Linke commented that it was Ms. Bennett's first <br /> week on the job and then she found herself gone for the weekend for <br /> a planning session. Linke stated that Ms. Bennett fit right in with <br /> the group planning activities. <br /> b. Mayor Linke congratulated Jerry Skelly, Jr. and family on the birth <br /> of a son and brother, Zachary.. <br /> Report of Administrator <br /> a. Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, hand carried to the meeting a <br /> staff report regarding the setting of a public hearing for May 9, <br /> 1994 , at 7 : 05 p.m. to consider the consolidation of the City's three <br /> TIF Districts into one project area and amend the Tax Increment <br />
