Consideration of Resolution No. 4554 Approving a Wetlands Alteration <br /> Permit for the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission (MWCC) for the <br /> Construction of the Blaine Interceptor <br /> Paul Harrington, Community Development Coordinator, reported that <br /> in March of this year the City Council approved temporary and <br /> permanent construction and utility easements necessary for the <br /> construction of the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission Blaine <br /> Interceptor Project. Harrington further reported that after <br /> reviewing the location of the proposed Interceptor against City <br /> adopted wetland maps, it was determined that the project would <br /> impact portions of those delineated wetlands. City Staff has the <br /> authority to issue wetland alteration permits in the wetland buffer <br /> zone but not in the delineated wetland itself. Harrington stated <br /> that the MWCC is requesting that the City Council approve a wetland <br /> alteration permit for the construction of the Blaine Interceptor <br /> Project. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Blanchard/Quick to Adopt Resolution No. 4554 <br /> Approving the Requested Wetland Alteration Permit for the <br /> Construction of the MWCC Blaine Interceptor Project <br /> VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> F. Consideration of Resolution No. 4551 Approving the Hiring of Tim <br /> Fredberg for Public Works Maintenance Worker <br /> Tim Cruikshank, Assistant to the City Administrator, reported that <br /> as part of the 1994 budget process, the City Council approved <br /> funding-fox thehiring of an additional—public works maintenance <br /> position to work in the sewer, water and surface water utility <br /> divisions. Staff interviewed eight of. the top qualified candidates <br /> and it was proposed by the interview team that Mr. Tim Fredberg be <br /> hired to fill this Public Works position. Mr. Fredberg has worked <br /> for the Cities of Oakdale and Columbia Heights for the past six <br /> years as a Public Works Maintenance Worker. Mr. Fredberg met all of <br /> the requirements of the position and has an excellent work history <br /> which indicates he can perform the duties and responsibilities of <br /> the position. Staff recommends that Mr. Fredberg's hiring be <br /> contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a physical <br /> examination and drug test. Cruikshank reported that reference <br /> checks had been completed and were satisfactory. <br />
