0 Mounds View City Council Page Fourteen
Regular Meeting May 23 , 1994
the City of Mounds View. This resident was also concerned about a
rumor that she had heard that County Road I would be widened to four
lanes.
Mayor Linke stated that the City has no knowledge that would occur.
Mayor Linke stated that last Wednesday, the Ramsey County League of
Local Government held its meeting at Falcon Heights City Hall. The
topic for the meeting was a presentation on How the County Figures
the Assessments on Homes. Mayor Linke stated that this was an
excellent program and it will be broadcast in the near future on
Channel 16 . Linke stated that there is a list of 25 items that the
assessment is based on. Linke stated that the City is divided into
two neighborhoods. Mayor Linke asked Samantha Orduno, City
Administrator, to obtain a copy of this checklist.
Councilmember Trude mentioned that there had been a change in the
requirements for a property tax refund.
Mayor Linke asked Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, to update
everyone as to what is happening with landfill situation.
• Orduno reported that the Governor signed the bill which amends the
Superfund process which increases commercial fees for tonnage that
is taken to landfills and per container fees to cover a pool of
money to clean closed landfills of which Oak Grove, East Bethel and
Andover are part of. The PRP group had approached the City with a
generous settlement, but can now opt into the pool of money and
clean the site. Chances are good the City may receive the $15, 000
back paid to Oak Grove and that the City will not be hit for the
East Bethel Landfill . There are now provisions in the law to clean
up the landfills in a state-wide process. The League of Minnesota
Cities was instrumental in pushing this bill .
_Report _ofAdministrator:_ No __report.
Report of Staff: No report.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before this Council, Mayor Linke
adjourned the meeting at 9 : 05 p.m.
R.-_pectf`ly s bmitted,
iche e ev rson
Recording Secretary
