Consideration of a Variance to Allow for Increased Wall Sign Area at CVS
Pharmacy

Planner Prososki explained that the applicant has requested a variance to allow for increased wall
signage for the CVS Pharmacy. City Code states that building mounted signage is not to exceed
100 square feet per building occupant. In this case, the applicant is requesting signage for the
side of the building facing Silver Lake Road and the side facing County Highway 10.

Planner Prososki reviewed the proposed signage with the Commission and indicated that the
total proposed wall signage is 245.8 square feet in addition to the ground and directional signs.

Mr. Moreland, representing Icon Identity Solutions, addressed the Commission and asked for
favorable consideration of his request.

Commissioner Zwirn asked whether all of the signage is illuminated.

Mr. Moreland explained what signs were illuminated and those that will not be illuminated.

Commissioner Hegland asked for clarification on the Walgreen’s sign and whether this proposal
is similar.

Planner Prososki indicated that Walgreen’s was developed under a PUD so they were not
restricted by this Code. She then said that Walgreen’s has a combined total signage of 264
square feet and estimated that 200 square feet of that is wall signage.
