Comnission P4ember Foss asked hiox many hours were spent in presentipg the pro,~ect to the City Councii by the engineers, Councl7member 9aumgartner repiied that ~nany, many hours wera spent ~y both the Staff and Council in reviewing the entire proposat, tine by 1tne, page by page. He added thiat nine engineering firms he.d submitted proposals to the City, which had then been narrowed down to thr•ee, which each made a presentatton to the City, ai: which time ShorC-E7liot-Hendrtckson +vas selected. Officfal Rose steted that the cost of the feasibility report was $37,000, whlch came in under the $40,000 which had been budgeted. Comnission Member Foss asked if the City was under any obiigation to continue on ~ with Short-E111ott-Hendrickson, or if they could receive bids frwn 2ther engineeriny ,~~jfirms at this tiR~e. Official Rose repTied that the pro,~ecC had not been 1eC out for blds yet, which would be coming in fran contractors, not engineers. He add?d that it would be of no benePtt to the City to bring in another engineerinc~ firm since the rasults woutd be hasical7y the saine, yet the Gity would incur the cust again, Commission Member Burmeister asked what the time tsble for the pro~ect was. Counciimember Baumgartner replled that it was expected to take Chree years. Ne added that a five year pro,~ecc had been considered but that the feelinys were the citizens would not like to see the C1ty torn up for five years. Councllniember Baumga:^tner ,tated that a request had been made at the end of the publlc hear9ng to have the March 27 Council meetin9 at the Bet Rae Ba11i^oam atso, which is when the Council will annaunce their decisinn on the pro,~ect. Of£icia7 Rose added that the A7exander ~iversified Sales request had be!en approved at the February 13 Council meeting. He stated that the Nleasant Acres request for Y,eith Narstad was denied in content but that a subdivfsion of three lots on tha southwest corner was apprpved. Official Rose reported that the Seven-E7even request was not approved, ar,d that the Council requzsted studles be done on traffic patterns and pro,~ections Por 7980, 1985 and 1990 before they wouTd consider the ~equest agaln. He added that the criteria Whi~h was autTined for thern wi11 show any traffic ar congestion problems if they are tnevitab7e.
