<br />Mounds View Planning Commission January 5, 2000 <br />Regular Meeting Page 13 <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Stevenson moved for acclamation. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stevenson/Berke. To Approve Jerry Peterson as Chairperson of the <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 7 Nays – 0 The motion carried. <br /> <br />Chairperson Peterson stated he had no objections to serving as Chairperson for the Commission, <br />although this was not a role he sought. He explained that his primary concern was to be of <br />service to the community, and whether or not that is accomplished through this position is <br />insignificant. <br /> <br />Commissioner Miller nominated Gary Stevenson for Vice-Chairperson of the Planning <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Miller moved for acclamation. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Miller/Berke. To Approve Gary Stevenson as the Vice-Chairperson of the <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 7 Nays – 0 The motion carried. <br /> <br />Planning Associate Ericson advised that according to the Bylaws, the Planning Commission <br />officially elects its Vice-Chairperson, however, the election of the Chairperson is a <br />recommendation to the Mayor, who may affirm the election, or choose someone else. He stated <br />staff would present this information to the City Council at their next meeting on January 10, <br />2000, and the Council would act upon this matter at that point. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stevenson advised that he was no longer serving on the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Miller stated this was unfortunate, as Commissioner Stevenson had acted as a <br />liaison to the Planning Commission, and had shared information that was especially helpful to <br />the Planning Commission. Commissioner Johnson added that this was particularly useful in <br />regard to the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Chairperson Peterson noted that the City has received much good service from the various <br />Commissions, and at times, it is easy to forget the long, sometimes tedious hours involved, <br />however, these are service positions. <br /> <br />Planning Associate Ericson advised that the City would be holding a City Council/Commission <br />Appreciation Dinner for all of the Commission and Council members, on Thursday March 2.
