Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Wuori to approve the first read- <br />ing of Ordinance No. 452,, amending the Municipal Code <br />of Mounds View by amending Chapter 40 entitled <br />"Zoning", and waive the reading. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Mayor Hankner stated copies would be available at <br />City Hall within the next two weeks for residents to <br />review, and the second reading and adoption would be <br />scheduled for February 27. <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley advised how the zoning is <br />determined. <br />February 13, 1989 <br />Page Six <br />Motion Carried <br />Police Chief Ramacher advised that complaints have I3. <br />been received on the Dominos Pizza drivers in the <br />past year, and he encouraged residents to call with <br />any complaints they have. He stated they could set <br />up a radar,, as well as talk to the manager. <br />Mrs. Carpenter stated Mounds View Drive is bad and <br />should have radar set up. She stated the road is <br />not sanded well, and with everyone speeding through, <br />it is being used as a race track, with the potential <br />for a problem. <br />Police Chief Ramacher reviewed the memo from the <br />Police Civil Service Commission concerning the hiring <br />of a new police officer. He explained this process <br />is regulated by several rules, which have been <br />followed. He added the Police Department has only <br />increased by two officers in the past 13 years. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Hankner to authorize the hiring <br />of Steven Geringer as a police officer, starting on <br />or about March 1, 1989. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Attorney Karney reviewed correspondence received from <br />Judge Plunkett concerning appointment of new members <br />to the Mounds View Charter Commission. <br />Councilmember Quick stated the Charater Commission <br />would like these positions filled as quickly as <br />possible. <br />Mayor Hankner questioned if they'd be limited to he list <br />• of people who submitted their resumes to the Judge, <br />and asked that Staff contact the three people whose <br />terms expire and who are eligible for reappointment, <br />to see if they are interested. <br />Consideration <br />of Memo from <br />Police Civil <br />Service <br />Commission <br />Regarding the <br />Hiring of <br />Police Officer <br />Motion Carried <br />14.
