Mounds View City Council August 28, 1989 <br />Regular Meeting Page Two <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Mayor Hankner also presented awards to Scott Peterson, <br />for his volunteer. work in the parks, resulting in his <br />earning his Eagle badge, to dill Engberg, for .his <br />volunteer work in the parks, and to Ben Voss, who <br />placed first in the state spelling bee, third in the <br />state geography test and 4th in the state math. <br />contest. <br />Alice Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, stated .she would like 6. Residents <br />to see the Council form an organization next spring to Requests and <br />educate children on bike riding and safety, stating Comments from <br />she had had several near misses this summer. the Floor <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley explained the City has <br />conducted bike safety classes in the past, in the <br />City Hall parking lot, in conjunction with the Park <br />and Rec department. He added he did not believe the <br />City could require people to attend the classes. <br />Paul Mielke, 516~Brighton Lane, stated it is not <br />difficult to get registered, and he did not .believe <br />a safety class could be required. <br />Councilmember Blanchard suggested the Police depart- <br />ment enforce the rules of the road, and issue tickets <br />• if necessary. <br />Motion/Second: Paone/Hankner to direct Staff to <br />have the Attorney look into the legal requirements <br />and how to set up an education program for next <br />spring. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion/Second:. Quick./Wuori to .approve the consent <br />agenda, as presented, and waive the reading of the <br />resolutions. <br />5 ayes 0 nays. <br />City Planner Hren explained each of the lots meets <br />minimum width. and area requirements for an R-1 dis- <br />trict. The outlot is planned to remain as is at this <br />time. The final plat is consistent with the prelimi- <br />nary plat, which. was approved earlier, and Staff <br />recommends approval of the major subdivision. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Blanchard to approve Resolution <br />No. 2527, approving a final plat major subidivision <br />for Michael Mezzenga, approximately 8140/8212. Long <br />Lake load, Planning Case No. 256-88, and waive the <br />reading. <br />Motion Carried <br />7. Approval of <br />Consent Agenda <br />Motion Carried <br />8.
