Mounds View <br />Regular Meet <br />otion/Secon <br />enda, as a <br />the reading <br />ity Council December 26, 1989 <br />ng Page Two <br />• Wuori/Blanchard to approve the consent <br />ended, minus Items 1 and 2, and waive <br />f the resolutions. <br />5 ayes ~ nays Motion Carried <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley read the items on the <br />consent agen a. <br />Jerry Linke, 2319 Kno11 Drive, asked why two fax <br />machines wer being purchased and stated he felt <br />two was a pu chase over and above what could be. <br />Clerk/Admini trator Pauley explained one is for the <br />office and t e other for the Police department, <br />for confiden ial purposes. <br />Mr. Linke stated he thought the Police needed a copy <br />machine more than a fax, and suggested buying one <br />fax and put ing it in the Police department. <br />Clerk/Admin <br />department <br />too cramped <br />specificall <br />between Cit <br />he nevi <br />to be purch <br />top copier. <br />'strator Pauley replied the Police <br />oes need a copier, however, space is <br />to put one in. The Police Chief has <br />indicated a desire for a fax. Usage <br />Hall and the Police is almost equal <br />wed the wage. The model fax planned <br />~sed is considerably smaller than a desk- <br />Motion/Seco d: Quick/Wuori to approve Item 1, the <br />purchase of two AT&T 3520 Facsimile machines from <br />Microfacts, Inc. at a cost of $2,238.00, to be <br />charged to ccount No. 100-4190-703. <br />5 ayes (0 nays Motion Carried <br />Councilmemb r Quick stated he felt with only one fax <br />machine, th re would be a line-up of employees <br />waiting to se it, and an officer would have to <br />stand there to watch for confidential transmittals. <br />He added he feels the machines will pay for themselves <br />in the long run. <br />Mr. Linke questioned whether the two personal com- <br />puters and r Item 2 could be tied into the mainframe. <br />Clerk/Admi istrator Pauley replied they could be, <br />with the p rchase of appropriate software. <br />Mr. Linke tated it was his understanding that the <br />idea beinn the purchase of the mainframe was for <br />networking of the system, and he does not feel the <br />mainframe ~s being utilized to its utmost. <br />
