hounds View City Council August 13. 1990
Regular Meeting Page Two
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr. McCarty questioned whether the school was willing
to enter into a contract with the City of Mounds view
concerning anything they do bringing the airport into
a more active status.
Councilmember Paone joined the meeting at 7:16 PM.
Mr. Sayer again pointed out they will not be involved
with flying in any way and cannot afford the liability
insurance. They will have nothing to do with the
operation of the airport other than to be an .impartial
tenant.
Mr. McCarty questioned whether federal grants would
be used to upgrade the airport or systems in any
manner.
Mr..Sayer replied nothing that would have to do with
flying, as their connection to the FAA is academic.
Mayor Hankber explained the Council would be taking
no action tonight, and this was an effort to get the
citizens aware of proposed changes.
Linda Bauman, 2317 Sherwood Road and Nancy Lindquist,
~ • 232`5 Sherwood Road, stated there are a lot of traffic
problems along their road, with heavy, fast traffic,
with one individual in particular who has lost his
license four times but still continues to drive.
Ms. Lundquist questioned why he was allowed to
continue driving, and stated they would like to see
increased monitoring by the police, use of radar and
speed bumps. She also noted when neighbors have
complained about the one individual, he has retaliated
against them. ~*.
Mayor Hankner explained the Council will be address-
ing the size of the police force during the budgeting
process.
Lt. Brick stated he had looked into the matter. In
order to get an individual in court, a citizens arrest
is needed if there is not an officer present to
observe the violation. He added it would be helpful
if time patterns could be established, as they cannot
have a squad car there at all times.
Mayor Hankner noted her neighborhood had had a pro-
blem in the past and the neighbors got together and
took license numbers and called them in.
Ms. Lundquist presented a petition to the Council,
signed by area residents, requesting assistance from
the Council in addressing the problem.
6.
