RESOLUTION 5546 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A Resolution Adopting Procedures for Hiring Seasonal Employees <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View does annually have a need to hire seasonal <br />employees in various City departments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Attorney has recommended that the City Council approve all <br />seasonal and regular hires per the City Charter, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to standardize the hiring process for seasonal <br />employees <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that when there is a need to hire <br />seasonal employees in the future the following steps will be followed: <br />1. Six weeks before the need to hire seasonal employees the Mounds View City <br />Council will approve seasonal positions, employment dates and wages prior <br />to any seasonal applicants being offered positions with the City; <br />2. The Assistant to the City Administrator will advertise the approved positions; <br />3. The respective Department Head will select applicants to fill the seasonal <br />positions approved by the City Council; <br />4. Completed application materials along with a signed letter of hire indicating <br />start and end dates for each seasonal new hire will be submitted to the <br />Personnel Office for review; <br />5. Upon receipt of the completed hiring documentation, the Assistant to the City <br />Administrator will forward the appropriate information to the Finance <br />Department for input into the payroll system; <br />6. Seasonal employees will be designated as “terminated” on the payroll system <br />when their seasonal employment relationship with the City ends; and <br />7. Payouts to seasonal employees other than the wages approved by the City <br />Council must be brought back to the City Council by the Assistant to the City <br />Administrator for approval; and <br />8. If there is a need to add a position or modify employment dates, the Assistant <br />to the City Administrator shall bring the issue back to the City Council for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Adopted this 26th day of March, 2001. <br /> <br /> <br /> (ATTEST) <br /> Richard Sonterre, Mayor <br /> <br /> <br /> SEAL <br /> Kathleen Miller, City Administrator <br /> <br />
