In the 2001 I had budgeted $70,000 for mower replacement. This was an estimated price from
several vendors and prices have increased since this estimate. The following is a breakdown of the
mower cost and how I plan on paying for it.
Cost of 580 D Toro Groundsmaster $64,534
Cost of OSHA approved all steel cab/w ROPS $ 5,875
Cost of OSHA approved air handling system $ 5,980
Trade in for Howard Price $ (3,500)
Subtotal $ 72,889
MN State Sales Tax $ 4,738
TOTAL $ 77,627

I recommend that we purchase the Toro 580 system for the following reasons. The Toro has a long
history of fewer breakdowns and higher performance than its competitors in all of the cities I surveyed.
Not only does it hold its value for possible future trade –in but I would expect to get more years of
service out of this unit if we keep it until it is unusable. I have found that it is far more user friendly than
other mowers which cuts down on my training time and is actually safer for the seasonals workers to
be using.
