Mounds View City Council November 13, 2000 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member Marty indicated he had watched the Planning Commission meeting on the cable <br />access channel and said there was a good discussion but felt there were a couple of issues that <br />were not addressed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson addressed the Council and suggested Council send the Ordinance back to <br />the Planning Commission for further discussion as he did not feel the Planning Commission had <br />addressed the concerns of home businesses in this new age of computers and technology. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Quick. To refer Ordinance No. 672 back to the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission for further research on the use of computers and new technology in home <br />based businesses. <br /> <br />Todd Hollander of 7800 Gloria Circle addressed Council and indicated he has been a resident of <br />Mounds View for two and a half years and runs a business out of his home that currently has four <br />employees other than himself. He presented maps of his neighborhood and letters of support for <br />his business which he presented to Community Development Director Jopke. <br /> <br />Mayor Coughlin thanked Mr. Holander for his efforts to provide information to Council but said <br />the matter would be referred back to the Planning and Zoning Committee and the information he <br />provided would be forwarded to the Planning and Zoning Commission for consideration. <br /> <br />Andrea Rush of 7830 Gloria Circle indicated she and her mother do not feel the extra traffic flow <br />on their street is necessary as it is a residential area not a business area. They are not in favor of <br />allowing the business to continue. <br /> <br />Council Member Stigney inquired as to whether the business owner could apply for a variance if <br />his type of business is not allowed by the Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Coughlin indicated the details would be sorted out as the process of defining the <br />ordinance continued. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Coughlin/Stigney. To Remove From Consideration Item 7D of the <br />Consent Agenda. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />E. Consideration of Resolution 5485 Appointing an Interim Community <br />Development Director. <br /> <br />Assistant to the Administrator Reed requested permission of Council to appoint Planner Ericson <br />as the Interim Community Development Director setting his pay at 115% of his current salary <br />and for permission to advertise for the Community Development Director position.
