Minutes of Mounds View City Council Meeting, March 6, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. <br /> in the City Hall Council Chambers <br /> <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The Mayor called the City Council into session during its March 6, 2000 Work Session <br />meeting in order at 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br /> <br />The following Council members were present: Mayor Coughlin, Rob Marty, Gary <br />Quick, Lynne Thomason, Roger Stigney. <br /> <br />III. Consideration of Resolution 5421 <br /> <br />Resolution 5421 is a resolution of support for Senate File 3642 and House File 3943 <br />regarding the setting of crosswalk light times and crosswalk education that reads as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Resolution No. 5421 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR SENATE FILE NO. 3642 AND HOUSE <br />FILE NO. 3943 LEGISLATING CHANGES IN STATE STATUTES REGARDING <br />PEDESTRIAN CONTROL SIGNALS AND CROSSWALK SAFETY <br />AWARENESS PROGRAMS <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View City Council agrees with changes to statutes regarding <br />pedestrian crosswalks noted in Senate File 3642 and House File 3943; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View community is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one <br />of our young men in a crosswalk accident; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View City Council would like to do what it can in its power to <br />educate residents on the dangers of crosswalks and improve the ability of pedestrians to <br />safely cross the many intersections in Mounds View; <br /> <br />THE MOUNDS VIEW CITY COUNCIL HEREBY declares its support for this <br />legislative effort and encourages both bodies of the Legislature and Governor Ventura <br />approve and instigate the changes into state law. <br /> <br /> <br />Adopted this 6th Day of March 2000. <br /> <br />
