1005.03 1005.03 <br /> <br />i. EXTERMINATION: The control and elimination of insects, rodents or other pests by eliminating their <br />harborage places, by removing or making inaccessible materials that may serve as their feed, by poison <br />spraying, fumigating, trapping or by another recognized and legal pest elimination method. <br /> <br />j. FAMILY: A group of one or more persons occupying a premises and living as a single housekeeping unit as <br />distinguished from a group occupying a boarding house, lodging house, hotel or motel. <br /> <br />k. GRADE: The surface of the ground or surface ground after completion of any change in contour. <br /> <br />l. GROSS FLOOR AREA: The sum of the horizontal areas of the several floors of all buildings on a lot, <br />measured from the exterior faces of exterior walls or from the center line of walls separating two (2) buildings. <br /> <br />m. HABITABLE ROOM: A room occupied by one or more persons used or intended for living, cooking, <br />eating or sleeping purposes but does not include bathrooms, closets, water closet compartments, laundries, <br />serving and storage pantries, corridors, cellars and spaces that are not used frequently or during extended <br />periods. <br /> <br />n. INFESTATION: The presence, within or contiguous to a multiple dwelling, dwelling unit, rooming house, <br />rooming unit or premises, of insects, rodents, vermin or other pests. <br /> <br />o. MULTIPLE DWELLING: A building or portion thereof containing two (2) or more dwelling units. (1988 <br />Code ∋93.05) <br /> <br />p. NUISANCE 10: The word "nuisance" shall be held to embrace public nuisance as known at common law or in <br />equity jurisprudence as whatever is dangerous to human life or detrimental to health, whatever dwelling is <br />overcrowded with occupants or is not provided with adequate ingress and egress to or from the same or is not <br />sufficiently supported, ventilated, sewered, drained, cleaned or lighted, in reference to its intended or actual use, <br />and whatever renders the air or human food or drink unwholesome and any other violation of any of the <br />provisions of this Chapter, are also severally, in contemplation of this Chapter, nuisances, and all such nuisances <br />are hereby declared illegal. (1988 Code ∋93.22) <br /> <br />q. OCCUPANT: Any person over one year of age living and sleeping in a dwelling unit or having actual <br />possession of said dwelling or rooming unit. <br /> <br />r. OPENABLE AREA: That part of a window or door which is available for unobstructed ventilation and which opens <br />directly to the outdoors. <br /> <br /> 10 See Chapter 604 of this Code for nuisance provisions.
