City of Mounds View Staff Report
August 29, 2018
Page 2
• The City has had only one formal presentation by RCWD on this proposed
project. John Hammerschmidt has presented some material on the matter in his
continued discussion for the possible golf course improvements.

• Will check with RCWD on hydrological impacts of the proposed project.

• RCWD is preparing the preliminary design plans. The City will have input to the
plan.

• MnDOT has conducted some noise monitoring in the area. It is unknown at this
time how much clearing or how many trees will be impacted by the proposed
pond.

• The preliminary benefits for the City’s residents could be an extension of the
current path, increased storm water ponding capacity, which could lessen the
impact of sever rain events. This project is not necessary for any future expansion
of the golf course. Only the possibility of creating wetland credits might foster a
degree of participation with any golf course expansion.

• The golf course manager has been talking with RCWD on the possible golf course
expansion for only a few of years at best, not several years in regards to this
proposed project. The ponding proposal and feasibility study was initiated by
RCWD.

The Council and Staff can address additional comments regarding the submitted chronology as
warranted.

___________________________________
Michael Ulrich, Interim City Administrator

C:\Mike's documents\staff reports\Greenfield pond proj.doc
