Public Works Director Erickson reported this pond area would be used more for infiltration <br />than for standing water. <br /> <br />Commissioner Love questioned when construction would begin. Public Works Director <br />Erickson stated construction would begin in the spring of 2017. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klebsch inquired if the adjacent soccer fields would be impacted. Public Works <br />Director Erickson explained the soccer fields would not be impacted through this project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klebsch asked if the baseball field would be unusable if the retention pond was <br />full of water. Public Works Director Erickson commented the intent of the retention pond was to <br />only have water standing in this area for three days. He did not anticipate the retention pond <br />would impact the baseball fields in any manner. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klander questioned how many public works employees would be working out of <br />the new facility on a daily basis. Public Works Director Erickson stated there would be 10 to 12 <br />Public Works employees working out of the new facility. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klander inquired why the Public Works Facility would have up to 60 parking <br />stalls. Planner Sevald commented on the City’s parking requirements for warehouse/office <br />buildings. Further discussion ensued regarding the parking needs and traffic that would be <br />flowing through the Public Works Facility. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klander asked if a letter was sent to adjacent property owners. Planner Sevald <br />reported staff had sent about 60 Public Hearing notices to neighboring property owners, and <br />residents along Bronson Dr. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klander questioned when plans were drawn up for the Public Works Facility. <br />Public Works Director Erickson stated staff began working on the plans in May and believed the <br />plans would be complete in early 2017. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klander asked if the City had considered another location for the salt storage. <br />Public Works Director Erickson commented staff has not considered another location due to the <br />fact this was an operational function for Public Works. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klander inquired if the individuals that designed the building was aware of the <br />City’s 40-foot setback requirement. Planner Sevald explained that even if the parking lot were <br />eliminated along this side of the building, a variance would still be needed for a paved area to get <br />vehicles in and out of the Public Works Facility. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klebsch requested further information regarding the height of the trees that would <br />be planted along Bronson Drive. Planner Sevald reviewed the tree species with the Commission <br />and noted the trees would grow to approximately 20 to 25 feet in height. <br />
