Planning Cases

A. CUP2009-00; Conditional Use Permit Amendment for Saturn of St. Paul
located at 2375 Highway 10

Planning Associate Heller stated the applicant Jim Price, representing Saturn of St. Paul located
at 2375 Highway 10, is requesting approval of an amendment to an existing conditional use
permit. She indicated the owners of Saturn of St. Paul were notified that the Saturn line of
automobiles will be discontinued in October 2010. She stated this dealership wants to stay open
in Mounds View and the owners are exploring all of their options. She stated the Mounds View
dealership cannot change to another new car brand due to existing laws and rules. The
dealership does have the opportunity to become a Motor Trend certified use car dealership, but
the current Conditional Use Permit has a condition that states the dealership must maintain a new
car sales license at all times. The applicant is requesting to remove this condition from the
Conditional Use Permit.
