City of Mounds View Comprehensive Plan ________________________________________________________________________ 55 Future Housing Needs Metropolitan Livable Communities Act Program The City of Mounds View participates in the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act Local Housing Incentives Account. To carry out the principles of this program, the City of Mounds View agrees to use the benchmark indicators for communities of similar location and stage of development as affordable and life-cycle housing goals for the period to 2010. The City will make its best efforts, given market conditions and resource availability, to maintain an index within benchmark ranges for affordability, life-cycle and density. Table 17 illustrates where Mounds View stands in relation to Metropolitan Council benchmarks. The City of Mounds View currently meets or exceeds all goals expected by the Metropolitan Council. With an aging housing stock, lower valued homes, and lower income families the City will continue to have to address substandard housing. It is the goal of the City to address housing issues now before they become a bigger problem.
