• <br />Mounds View City Council Page 8 <br />Regular Meeting May 22, 1995 <br />As a citizen, she would prefer to see the width of residential <br />streets set at 28 feet. <br />Relating to the question of stricter law enforcement for speeding, <br />Ms. Haake was in favor of stricter law enforcement; however, she <br />felt the highway speed restriction should be 65 miles per hour. <br />Bruce Brasaemle, 5227 Long Lake Road, stated that he was opposed to <br />widening the residential streets, citing a reduction in green space <br />and increase of ground water pollutants, as well as additional <br />chemicals that would be needed for snow removal. He also felt the <br />increase in costs involved with wider streets could force some <br />residents to leave the community. <br />Mr. Brasaemle was in favor of stricter law enforcement for <br />speeding. <br />Charles Young, 3032 County Road I, expressed concern regarding the <br />County Road that he Lives on. He also commented on the leaf <br />recycling process. <br />Larry Windingstad, 2595 Woodcrest Drive, concurred with <br />Councilmember Trude's opinion of widening the streets. He was <br />opposed to widening residential streets beyond 28 feet. <br />He was in favor of any efforts to get speeders to slow down. <br />Leonard Gustafson, 5126 Greenwood Drive, asked for clarification of <br />the process required to adopt an ordinance on this matter. Mayor <br />Linke offered an explanation. <br />Jeff Pheneger, 2235 Lambert Avenue, stated that he was in favor of <br />the 28 foot width for residential streets. He felt that parking on <br />one side of the street would be an alternative to widening the <br />street. <br />Mr. Pheneger was also in favor of stricter law enforcement for <br />speeding. He cited the area of Lambert Park as having many <br />speeding problems which make the streets unsafe for children. <br />Leroy Luchsinger, 2153 Terrace Drive, expressed his gratitude to <br />Mr. Beck, author of an article in the New Brighton Bulletin <br />regarding this public hearing for street standards. Mr. Luchsinger <br />was in favor of 30 foot wide streets. <br />Alvin Dahlberg, 5107 Greenwood Drive, was concerned that the City <br />of Mounds View was planning to do a massive reconstruction project <br />and he felt there were streets which were many years old that still <br />didn't need to be reconstructed.
